Another background in process

As I have mentioned, working full time really gets in the way of playing with paints.

This past week I poured some colors on yupo.

I used some stencils  to create the look above.  Now I think I will do some

stamping to pull it all together.

More next week

One of my favorite cattleyas, just starting to bloom.

There are 9 or ten more blooms coming.  I can't wait.

Background transformations

Another yupo background transformed.

After creating the background, I cut drew the vase and flowers on a piece
of posterboard.  I used a exacto blade to cut it out, put it on the background and
rolled the white acrylic.  I used a flower stamp to create the centers of the flowers.
Water color pencils were used to lightly define the stems and create a shadow at the base
of the vase.

The latest background awaiting inspiration.
Wishing you all a Happy PPF

Hitch...

A new year and a new opportunity to participate in The Diva's challenges.

And I got my calendar, for the third year in a row

So with time precious, this is my quick entry.

Thank you Laura and thank you Heidi Sue.

2015-Word of the Year

For the past few years I have picked a word of the year.
It serves many purposes.  It is sort of a goal for me personally.
I like challenging myself.
In 2013 my word was "stretch".
In 2014 my word was "open".
And this year my word is "listen".
We learn so much by listening.  We learn nothing when we are in the process of telling.
I work in the selling field and I have always prided myself in learning as much as possible about my clents.  I find it interesting AND it helps me do my job better
That said, I think as we age we acquire the impression that people are interested in all we know or have experienced.  Wrong!
And so my choice serves as a reminder to me, and an inspiration for whenever the white page
stumps me (and then it reminds me again).

I have had a couple of days off to play in my journals

And doodling some flowers here.
Who knew what a fun background an old dictionary could be?
